Serving New Yorkers_Care Compassion
September 30, 2024

Dear Community Partner,

Please be advised that the federal authority that allows for the replacement of electronically stolen SNAP benefits that was originally set to expire on September 30, 2024, has now been extended to December 20, 2024. The Department of Social Services will continue to consider claims for replacement of stolen SNAP benefits, as long as the theft occurred on or before December 20, 2024, and the claim is filed within 30 days after it was discovered that the benefits were stolen. This deadline does not impact claims for electronically stolen Cash Assistance benefits.

We will provide updated guidance as the December 20, 2024 expiration date approaches.

For additional Benefit Replacement information and resources, please visit our dedicated webpage.

Thank you for your ongoing partnership, and for all that you do every day to help New Yorkers in need.

Sincerely,
