Dear Community Partner,
I'm pleased to be joining the NYC Department of Social Services as Commissioner and look forward to working with you to continue advancing our shared efforts to support New Yorkers in need. I'm reaching out to ensure that everyone is aware that beginning May 1, 2026, the 30th Street Single Men's Intake and 30th Street Adult Family Intake Center (400 East 30th Street, Manhattan) will be relocating.
As many of you know, the 30th Street Single Men's and Adult Family Intake Center has been in operation for many years. Due to the age of the building, the facility now requires significant infrastructure upgrades. To ensure continuity of services while work is being done, the Department of Homeless Services will transition intake and assessment operations from this location to other sites in Manhattan.
Beginning May 1, 2026:
In the interim, intake will continue at 30th Street through April 30, 2026. However, clients will no longer be placed in assessment beds at that location after March 16, 2026.
As applicable, please share this information with your clients and with staff across your organizations. DSS and DHS are working closely with our City and State partners to conduct a comprehensive outreach and communications effort, and additional materials will be provided in future communications - including flyers and other resources - to support this transition as they become available.
In the meantime, I would ask that you please:

Update any references to 30th Street Single Adult or Adult Family Intake on your websites, printed materials, or other public-facing resources to reflect these changes by April 30, 2026.

Notify partner organizations and affiliates as necessary to ensure that all those who may be impacted by these changes are appropriately informed.
These communications will continue to be used to share important updates as this transition moves forward.
And finally, I appreciate the work of our DHS and DSS teams who have been coordinating this transition, as well as strong partners, like Project Renewal, who are working with us to make this move happen in an expedited manner and smoothly as possible for our clients.
