# Immigrant Health

Resources listed below are available to New York City residents experiencing homelessness regardless of immigration status.

#### Health Services

Health Care for Uninsured

NYC residents who do not have health insurance can access health services regardless of immigration status or ability to pay. NYC's public hospital system and local community health centers provide medical care on a sliding-fee basis, depending on income. - [NYC Care](https://www.nyccare.nyc/about/): Health care access program offering low-cost and no-cost health services at H+H who do not qualify for or cannot afford health insurance.
- Community health center networks who see all patients regardless of immigration status, but specialize in serving immigrant and asylum seeking communities: 
    - [Urban Health Plan](https://www.urbanhealthplan.org/) (Bronx, Queens) serves Latino immigrant patients, including Puerto Rican, Dominican, Mexican, Ecuadorian immigrants in the South Bronx and Corona, Queens

- Make the Road New York (Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island): Primarily serves Latino, Spanish-speaking, West African and other immigrant clients with [education, health and legal services](https://maketheroadny.org/services-info/)
- Arab-American Family Support Center (Brooklyn, Queens):  Serving Arab, Middle Eastern, Muslim, North African, and South Asian immigrant communities through the [Community Health & Wellbeing Program](https://aafscny.org/our-programs/promotewell-being/)

Primary and Urgent Care for People With Substance Use and Mental Health Issues

NYC Health + Hospitals (H+H) is NYC's public hospital system serving all patients regardless of immigration status. H+H offers multilingual health services through  its multilingual staff and interpreters.

The following H+H clinics specialize in serving NYC residents experiencing homelessness with barriers to accessing traditional outpatient care.

Specialized Substance Use and Mental Health Services

There are a wide range of specialized substance use, harm reduction and mental health services in NYC:

Specialized health care clinic for people who have been in jail or prison at Bellevue and Kings County Hospitals. Helpline for people who have been in jail or prison providing support accessing medical care, social services, benefits and housing.
